Pay close attention to distances on this map. It may be 8
miles from Placencia Village to Maya Beach, but that 8 miles can take 40
minutes to drive depending on road conditions. And, cabs are expensive
- US$5 per person, round-trip, between Saks at Placencia (fka Kitty's Place)
and Placencia Village, and that's only about a mile.
If you want to
stay near Placencia Village, don't stay north of the Placencia airstrip (no
matter what the person on the other end of the email or phone tells you).
If you don't care and are more interested in the beach than the culture or
the nightlife, then choose the hotel or resort that has the amenities you
want or need, and that's in your price range.
