If you want to stay near Placencia Village, don't stay north of the Placencia airstrip (no matter what the person on the other end of the email or phone tells you).  If you don't care and are more interested in the beach than the culture or the nightlife, then choose the hotel or resort that has the amenities you want or need, and that's in your price range.
