Preparing a Shore Lunch
Wyatt Preparing a Shore Lunch

Fishing and snorkeling trips include lunch each day (and a light breakfast for pre-7 a.m. fishing starts).  Lunches are either an angler's lunch or shore lunch.    Special prepared guide dinners are also available.

Angler's lunch.  Angler's lunches are designed to be eaten on-board, and interfere with fishing (or snorkeling) as little as possible.  Lunches can include sandwiches, pasta salad (ham, chicken, vegetarian, lobster or shrimp), Creole fish balls, Belizean beans and rice, fried chicken, slaw, potato salad, Creole bread, cookies, fruit, bottled water, fruit juice and condiments.
Shore lunch.   Shore lunches are freshly prepared by your guide using as many indigenous local ingredients as possible, including catch of the day or lobster/conch (depending on season).  Shore lunch menus can include grilled fish or lobster, conch or tuna ceviche, Creole bread, pasta salad, Belizean beans and rice, fruit, slaw, potato salad, Creole bread, cookies, bottled water, fruit juice and condiments.
Guide Dinner.  A special fishing guide dinner is available with at least 2 weeks advance notice prior to the scheduled beginning date of a trip.  Specialties include ceviche, conch fritters, grilled lobster (in season), coconut rice, catch of the day in fresh Creole tomato sauce or coconut/garlic/lime sauce, guava basted barbecued pork ribs, coconut pie, lime pie and homemade ice creams.  Coffee, soda and Belikan beer included.  Contact us for pricing.

All food, food preparation and food service items (meals, snacks, utensils, dishes, drinking water, soda, juices, stove, fuel, etc. - but NOT including alcoholic beverages) are provided on guided camping trips.

Meals include lunch and dinner on the first day of the trip, 3 meals per day on each day thereafter, excluding the last day when we provide breakfast and lunch only (dinner on your own once you arrive back in Placencia).

We like to use as much locally produced food as we can, and get as much as we can from the areas in which we camp (for example, freshly caught fish, conch, shrimp, coconut, limes).  Meals are freshly prepared on site by your guide.

Because we focus on native Belizean Creole food, campers will have an opportunity not only to catch local saltwater fish and shellfish, but also to clean and prepare it (for example, conch ceviche is one of our specialties, and interested campers may work with us in diving for the conch and preparing it).

Omar's old restaurant on the Sidewalk, Placencia, Village (1997)Placencia Village and Seine Bight Village Restaurants. The Villages offer a variety of inexpensive to moderate restaurants serving high-quality local Creole and Garifuna food. Examples include Cozy Corners, Omar's, Daisy's, The Galley,  B.J.'s and Merlene's.  Purple Space Monkey Internet Cafe in Placencia Village offers American-style breakfasts and lunches (burgers, grilled ham and cheese, western omelets, etc.)  Try Pickled Parrot for pizza and dishes such as Mango Chicken -- and Bella Beach for some pretty good Italian fare.
