Blancaneaux
Lodge
is owned by movie director and producer, Francis Ford Coppola, who is
also responsible for the creation of this stunningly beautiful jungle
lodge on the banks the Privassion River. (Coppola also owns
Turtle
Inn in Placencia on the southern coast of Belize, and
La Lancha, on the banks of
Lake Peten Itza near the Tikal Mayan ruins.)
Organic
produce grown on the grounds provides many of the staples for the
excellent on-premises restaurant, and Coppola has just added
the Waterfall Spa and Hot Pool, featuring Thai massages by Prasert,
a Thai masseuse professionally trained at the Sacred Wat Pho Temple in Bangkok.
In
addition to first-class lodging and dining, Blancaneaux is an
excellent location from which to visit the many waterfalls and
caves of the Mountain Pine Ridge area of Belize, including the Rio
On Pools and Falls, Hidden Valley Falls (also known as the 1,000
Foot Falls), and the mystical Barton Creek Cave. Caracol,
one of the largest Mayan ruins sites in Central America, and still
under excavation, is also an easy day-trip from Blancaneaux.
A full range of other jungle activities is also available such as
jungle horseback riding, jungle river canoeing and birding.
Upper price tier.
