Belize Jungle Lodges

(Contact us for booking information and availability.)

duPlooy's Jungle Lodge, Belize
DuPlooy's is a small, intimate jungle resort with its own Botanic Gardens adjacent to the Lodge.  (The Botanic Gardens include an orchid house with over 300 individual plants and 120 species of identified orchids.)

DuPlooy's offers a wide variety of activities including guided Mayan ruins tours, canoeing, horseback riding, jungle hiking, caving and birding.  (Over 300 species of birds have been identified within a 5-mile radius of duPlooy's and duPlooy's has its own resident birding guide, Philip Mai.)

DuPlooy's Jungle Lodge, Cottage, BelizeDuPlooy's is one of the most comfortable -- and most ecologically balanced jungle lodges in Belize.  Re-cycling and composting are ways of life here, and no beef is served because of the devastating effects of cattle ranching on the jungle and rainforest environment.  Beverages in plastic containers are not served, so no diet sodas (which only come in plastic containers in Belize).

Belize Botanic Gardens, Native Orchid House, BelizeThe Belize Botanic Gardens next door (owned and operated by DuPlooy's) provide DuPlooy's guests with beauty and education about the tropical and subtropical environments of Belize.

The BBG is a member of the Botanic Gardens, Conservation International, and a Native Orchids House, a collection of increasingly rare (and threatened) native Mayan plants, displays of native Belizean palms and blooming  plants, a fire tower, and re-creations of the Mountain Pine Ridge, Savanna, Wetland and Rainforest habitats founds in Belize.

Upper-moderate price tier.  Contact us for more information.

Crystal Paradise Jungle Lodge, Valley View Thatched Cabana, Belize
Crystal Paradise is a small resort tucked into the jungle alongside the Macal River near the small village of Cristo Rey, but not far from San Ignacio and the Xunantunich Mayan ruins.

Crystal Paradise is one of the few Belizean-owned jungle resorts, and the entire Tut family is involved in its operation.  Therese (mom) still supervises the meals, the daughters cook and run the lodge operations, and the sons maintain the grounds are its resident guides -- particularly expert in birding.  (Dad (Victor) built the resort himself, and now is its supervisor extraordinaire.)

Crystal Paradise Jungle Lodge, Garden View Family Loft Cabanas, BelizeIn addition to being one of the better lodges in Belize for birding, Crystal Paradise is a great place for families.  We recently received an email from one of clients who wanted to let us know how much her kids loved it here.  So much so that she had to talk them into continuing onto the beach part of the family's vacation!

Activities available at Crystal Paradise include caving, (including Actun Tunichil Muknal) cave tubing, jungle hikes, Mayan ruins tours Caracol, Xunantunich, El Pilar, Cahal Pech, even Tikal), jungle river canoeing and kayaking, jungle horseback riding, jungle mountain biking, the Belize Zoo, butterfly farms and a beautiful waterfall tour in the Mountain Pine Ridge District, including Big Rock Falls, Hidden Valley Falls, and Butterfly Falls and the Rio On Pools.
